ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS

Building on the foundation that workers have equal rights, W e demand the government set up a mechanism that allows undocumented workers to adjust their immigration status. The process of adjusting one's status should be similar to green card holders, so that anyone living and working here for a certain number of years can automatically apply for status. Unlike legalization -- which stops at an arbitrary date and reinforces the division between workers -- we are fighting to eliminate this division. Adjustment of status should not be dictated by how the politicians play their game to win voters or which party controls the government, nor should it be dictated by American companies need for labor.
